12 to The Moon

Post  BoG on Tue Sep 16, 2014 12:33 am

It seems serious at first. The opening seems dramatic, and the multi-national crew even includes an African guy, a Muslim guy, and two women. But what might have been a sincere yet silly "message" film like Red Planet Mars degenerates quickly into pure silliness. Once the 12 explorers get to the moon, the story takes fantastical turns like a Mélies short , but without the charm. The moon chief is "The Great Coordinator." The unseen moon people are purely rational and unemotional, like 99% of 1950s extraterrestrials.
