Flight to Mars (1951)

Fifty Years in the Future!  it proclaims in the preview trailer. That would make it the year 2001, wouldn't it? When I was a kid, I thought we just might make it to Mars by that year. Didn't happen, for some reason. Trailer:

But those were the days, huh? Everyone seemed to think that we'd make it to one of those close-by planets pretty soon and, of course, find human beings just like us who dress a bit more snazzily and hold serious council meetings every few hours to decide the fate of mankind. BoG's Score: 6 out of 10
The Wade Williams DVD of the film  does have a few problems - the lines on the screen every once in a while and some truly nasty jump cuts, wiping away entire little scenes. However, it's still an entertaining little Sci-Fi adventure. The DVD even has an old interview with Cameron Mitchell, conducted in the mid-eighties on some show called Sinister Image. (there wasn't really anything sinister about it).

Flight Trivia: THE INTERIOR OF THE SPACESHIP MAY LOOK FAMILIAR - SEE ROCKETSHIP X-M (1950)
THE SPACESUITS MAY ALSO LOOK FAMILIAR... SEE DESTINATION MOON (1950)
FLIGHT TO MARS IS LIKE A FOLLOW-UP TO BOTH FILMS
(THOUGH SHOT IN ONLY 5 DAYS, ACCORDING TO ITS STAR)
